Using Le Corbusier’s Proposal for a Hospital in Venice as a precedent and method for addressing the issue of rising sea levels, this project catalogs a matrix of modular pieces to aggregate and form a larger system and propose a new urban intervention to Venice, Italy.
The matrix provides a catalogue of typologies with which to populate and aggregate to generate the form of a addition to city. It employs different combinations of two, three or four base components, aggregated and organized based on a typological strategy.
In proposing an urban intervention, the projects adds over 10 million square feet, speculating on a new typology of raised infrastructure that addresses the challenges of rising sea levels in Venice, outlining a multi-phased strategy that could be implemented to first add to Venice and then rehabilitate existing Venice.
